What are pressure points?

Pressure points refer to the points on the body that bear the most weight and pressure when lying down. The most common points are the knees, hip, and shoulder areas. It is important that a mattress provides body support in these key areas. If your mattress is too firm, it can cause pain to the pressure points and lead to improper alignment. If the mattress is too soft, these pressure points will not be properly supported and this can lead to a variety of issues for the body. It is important to find a mattress that keeps the body supported and that offers just enough resistance to keep the pressure points properly alleviated. In a Spanish study, it was found that most people reported less back pain while sleeping on a medium-firm mattress. People who suffer from ailments such as Fibromyalgia and arthritis especially need a mattress that can provide comfort to tender spots, also called trigger points.

A good quality foam mattress should distribute weight evenly and support the body where it needs it most. The Emma Original Mattress provides support through 3 layers that not only keep you comfy but also keeps the body in proper alignment.
